Lindsay PW B Lynx Win Game 1 of 2nd Round 4-0
The Lindsay Lynx opened up Round 2 of the LL Playoffs with a resounding 4-0 win over Toronto Leaside 3754.

The Lynx came out fast and the line of Maddy Donnelly, Taylor Allen and Nixon Francis generated a great scoring chance 15 seconds in but had 3 shots turned away by the Leaside goalie. The next shift saw Gracie Cunday draw a hooking penalty and just over 2 minutes in the Lynx capitalized on the PP as Mya Mattiussi scored the eventual game winner with Emma Shanks and Kayla Golden getting the assists. Just over a minute later the Lynx would go up 2-0 as a textbook breakout led to a Maddy Donnelly goal. Julia Sudsbury made a great pass out from behind her net to send Donnelly up the boards who gave a streaking Taylor Allen a pass at centre ice. Allen then got a partial breakaway shot off which the Leaside goalie was able to stop but Donnelly was able to bang home the rebound with the assists going to Allen and Sudsbury.

The 2nd period again saw the Lynx control the play and get another early PP with Julia Staniland drawing the penalty after a good forechecking shift from the line of Staniland, Laura Brown and Taryn Lindquist. They would again capitalize with the extra player on the ice as Nixon Francis did a tremendous job in chasing the puck and causing a turnover which led to Maddy Donnelly banging home her 2nd of the game. Assists went to Francis and Taylor Allen.

The 3rd period slowed down a bit and got sloppy as both teams seemed tired. However, the Lynx were able to add to their lead and get their 4th goal as Mya Mattiussi made a great deflection for her 2nd of the game off of a point shot from Emma Shanks. Assists went to Shanks and Gracie Cunday. Some late penalty trouble put the shutout in question but some great penalty killing by Hannah Vallier and Emma Lees and a great glove save by Emma Francois was able to help preserve Francois' 26th shutout of the year.

The Lynx look to wrap up the series and advance to the Eastern Division Playoff final with a win this Saturday March 5th at the Agincourt Recreation Centre at 2:45 pm. Go LYNX Go!!!
