Lindsay Lynx Silver Win Atom House League Championship
Last weekend was a busy one for the Lindsay Lynx Silver. They were a last minute entry into an Oshawa tournament, where they played four very close and challenging games. They followed that up with a playoff game on Sunday night. It was a do or die game against Ennismore. Lose or tie, and they were out. They had to win. Despite having played a lot of hockey that weekend - and a lot of travel - they came together as a team and won 3-0 to advance to the finals.

Wednesday night they faced off against Peterborough Yellow. Peterborough finished first overall, and earned the spot of host team with a very strong playoff run.

You could not have picked a better ending. Both teams were very evenly matched. It was an incredible game to watch, as a player, coach or fan! Both teams played a very disciplined game. The teams exchanged some good chances, and the goalies were both outstanding. After three periods, the game was tied 0-0. Off to the shootout they went.

As you might expect, the even match-up continued into the shootout. Only one goal per side was scored through the entire first round. Avery Tzountzouris was the lone goal scorer for Lindsay. Both goalies stood out again, as the teams went through their complete rosters. Full credit to Lindsay goalie Lily Goble as she stopped shooter after shooter with poise and focus!

Finally, in the second round of the shootout, after Lily made a great sliding save to keep Lindsay in the game, Cassidy Cooper sniped the winning goal for the Lynx to take the championship! What a great ending to an exciting season.

These girls have developed throughout the year, through all the ups and downs, and grew together as an amazing group of friends and teammates. The entire coaching staff is proud of all of them, and it was a real pleasure to be part of this journey!   Atom_Silver.jpg
