Planning process for the 2020-2021 hockey season.
An update from our Lynx Executive on the planning process for the 2020-2021 hockey season.

First and foremost: based on current conditions, and unless circumstances in Ontario significantly change over the summer, we are confident that our Lynx players will be on the ice in September.

As we move closer to September, we hope to provide a more in-depth plan regarding all aspects of the hockey season regardless of age division or level of play. Our current challenges are offering the sport of hockey while observing our new health guidelines such as maintaining social distancing and the number of people who are allowed to gather. There are new procedures that will need to be implemented such as separate entrances and exits to facilities, dressing room use, health screening, use of masks, spectators etc.

Currently the information we are receiving leads us to believe that the start of Representative hockey will be postponed until it is deemed safe to resume. We are looking into many options in order to get our members returning to the ice in a safe way to have them benefit from the physical and mental benefits that hockey has to offer. At this point we are looking at using September as a pre season development platform while we work to hopefully enact additional return to play phases in the months after September.

Our September development program and return to play process will be communicated as soon as possible with more details and answers to the many questions our members have.   Currently we are trying to determine ice availability given the limited arenas opening in the City of Kawartha Lakes and reduced hours of operation offered.

It's perhaps important to note that, while the OWHA has provided instructions for associations and teams planning summer activities in July and August, they have not provided any directions on what hockey will look like after September 1. I recommend that you not put any value in rumours you might hear about specific measures that could be put in place - these are pure speculation, as no decisions have been made for September or after.

Our goal right now is to open registration from August 7th until August 21st so that we have an idea on how many players plan on playing hockey with the Lynx this coming season.  Please register on the website
https://lgha.net/   We are currently not accepting registration fees as we are not sure what hockey will look like.

We know there are many questions to be answered, we thank you for your patience and support. We are very hopeful to have the kids back on the ice in a safe and enjoyable way come September and we all can work together to make this happen.

Thank you

Lynx Executive
