Peewee B Lynx End Regular Season on a High Note
The Lynx wrapped up their regular season on Sunday by traveling to Napanee and earning an impressive 4-1 win to end the regular season with a 17-2-3 record.

The Lynx came out flying early in the game and kept the pressure on in the first 4 minutes of the game. On the 1st shift Hannah Vallier charged up the left side of the ice and had a good shot from the side of the net. The Lynx then got good scoring chances from Mya Mattiussi, Julia Staniland and Kayla Golden as the Crunch couldn't get the puck out of their own zone. Emma Lees then had a shot from the high slot which just went wide of the net. However, at the 5 minute mark the Napanee team applied a good forecheck of their own and were able to slide one by goalie Emma Francois for a 1-0 lead.

This did not deter the Lynx and they kept up their aggressive forecheck and continued to apply the pressure. Gracie Cunday was able to make a great pass to Mya Mattiussi in the neutral zone and just as Mattiussi made her move to the inside she was hauled down resulting in a Lynx PP. The girls kept up the great pressure and at the 2 minute mark of the period they tied it up off of a faceoff win by Maddy Donnelly. Winger Nixon Francis fed Hannah Vallier at the point whose shot went to Donnelly who had gone hard to the net and knocked the PP goal past the Crunch goalie to tie the score at 1-1 with assists going to Vallier and Francis on the play.

The Lynx had another offensive zone faceoff result in their next goal as Kayla Golden won the draw to the point to Emma Shanks whose shot went to Taryn Lindquist. Lindquist pushed the puck through to Golden who wripped a shot off the far post and past the Crunch goalie for a 2-1 lead and what would prove to be the eventual game winner.

Just a few minutes later Taylor Allen sprang Nixon Francis, who made a great move at the blueline, for a breakaway only to have the Crunch goalie come up big and deny Francis the goal. However, the Lynx kept coming and with 11 seconds left in the period extended their lead to 3-1 as Gracie Cunday made a great pass out from the left corner to the slot where Maddy Donnelly banged home her 2nd of the game. Cunday and Mattiussi picked up the assists.

The 3rd period started as quickly as the 2nd ended as just 22 seconds in Mattiussi finished off the scoring with a top shelf shot. The goal was created by a great pinch by Laura Brown and pressure from Taylor Allen. The play resulted in a shot from the point from Emma Lees with Mattiussi controlling the rebound and wripping home the shot. Assists went to Allen and Lees. With about 1 minute left the Lynx executed a perfect breakout from their own end with Emma Shanks feeding Taryn Lindquist along the side boards and Lindquist feeding a streaking through the middle Julia Staniland. Staniland had a breakaway from centre ice and with her head up wripped a low shot just wide of the far post. The girls played a great game to end the season, special mention to Laura Brown who again played out of position on defense and had a fantastic game. The Lynx start their playoffs this coming Saturday in Oakwood at 2 pm as they host the Scarborough Sharks in Game 1. Go LYNX Go!!!!
