The Lindsay Lynx Peewee B's enjoyed an extremely successful weekend at the Oakville Hornet's 6th Annual Harvest Classic Tournament. They started with 2 wins on Friday by the scores of 3-1 against Windsor and 5-0 against the home Oakville team. These wins secured them a berth in the semi-finals, but first was a battle for 1st place on Saturday morning in their Pool against Toronto-Leaside.
The Lynx came out victorious in this game with another 5-0 victory to secure 1st place in their Pool play. This set-up a semi-final match-up with Guelph. After a slow start which saw the game tied at 1-1 after the 1st period, the Lynx turned it up in the second to take a 4-1 lead after 2 periods and would cruise to a 6-1 final score victory to set up a Gold Medal game against Toronto-Leaside-Philpott. The Gold Medal game on Sunday was a back and forth affair. The Lynx were tied 1-1 after 1 period, trailing 3-2 after 2 periods and tied it up at 3 with about 8 minutes to go. After controlling much of the play for much of the final period but not being able to score the go-ahead goal Toronto Leaside-Philpott was able to score the winner with 33 seconds left in the game. It was tremendous effort and a great start to the season for the girls. A Silver Medal accomplishment, congratulations girls!!!
Go Lynx Go!!
