Lynx Wrap up 1st Round LL Series
The PW B Lynx travelled to Scarborough last night for Game 2 of their 1st Round Series against the Sharks. The Lynx put in a dominating performance, outshooting the Sharks 42-7,  to win 3-0 and sweep the Series.

The Lynx controlled the play right from the opening faceoff. This resulted in Taylor Allen drawing an interference penalty about 4 minutes into the game. During the PP the Lynx controlled the puck down low and Laura Brown was able to bang home the puck from the side of the net for the 1st goal of the game and the eventual game-winner. Taylor Allen and Maddy Donnelly picked up the assists on the goal. The Lynx kept up the pressure for the remainder of the period and outshot the Sharks 15-1 in the 1st period but the Sharks goalie was on her game and kept the score at 1-0. Great scoring chances by Gracie Cunday on a rebound attempt, Hannah Vallier on a shot from the point and Julia Staniland on a turn-around from the slot highlighted the best chances for the Lynx to add to the lead.

In the 2nd period the Lynx continued to press for the next goal and kept the play in the Sharks end for long durations. The Lynx aggressive play led to some penalties and the team had excellent penalty killing from Julia Sudsbury and Emma Lees and Kayla Golden and Taryn Lindquist. Goalie Emma Francois, while not tested often, made 2 big kick saves to preserve the 1-0 lead. After killing the penalties the Lynx went back on the forecheck and saw great chances by Maddy Donnelly as she controlled the puck down low and walked out in front to get a great shot off which the Sharks goalie was able to control. The next shift saw Mya Mattiussi pick up a loose puck at the blueline and dance around 3 Sharks defenders and then take it hard to the next only to again be denied by the Sharks goalie. Great face-offs by Kayla Golden and Maddy Donnelly led to a couple of good point shots from Emma Shanks and a great deflection by Mattiussi off of a Julia Sudsbury shot which all either went just wide or were stopped by the Sharks goalie. The Lynx outshot the Sharks in this period 14-2 but the stellar play of the Sharks goalie kept the score 1-0 heading into the 3rd.

The aggressive Lynx play was starting to wear on the Sharks and about 2 minutes into the 3rd the Lynx were able to create some breathing room and go up 2-0 on a nice deflection by Mattiussi off of a Hannah Vallier shot. Assists went to Vallier and Gracie Cunday. The Lynx continued to pressure and saw Kayla Golden, Taryn Lindquist and Hannah Vallier all make great rushes up the ice only to have their shots turned away by the Sharks netminder. 1 last penalty to the Lynx created a final push for the Sharks with under 3 minutes to play and with the goalie pulled they were able to further test Francois who was up to the challenge. Then with just under 2 minutes to go Emma Shanks made a nice clear to relieve some pressure which Kayla Golden chased down and was able to find the empty net to end the game 3-0 with the lone assist going to Shanks. Emma Francois was able to secure her 25th shutout of the season as the Lynx wrapped up the Series sweep. In the 3rd the Lynx outshot the Sharks 13-4. They now will await the winner of Napanee and Toronto Leaside (3754) for Round 2 and will travel to Smiths Falls this weekend for the Cubtown Tournament. Go LYNX Go!!!
